Tim Tebow explains how 'body blows' from No. 1 strength of schedule has impacted Georgia
One aspect that Tim Tebow wants people to take into consideration with Georgia is their health over the course of this season.
Tebow made that point while on ‘The Paul Finebaum Show’ on Friday. He can see that this fall has taken a toll on the Bulldogs’ roster as they haven’t really been healthy for much of the season, if not for the entirety of it, despite finding reserves to play in places. In his opinion, that has made it that much more difficult for them against one of the most difficult schedules in all of college football.
“It’s not just the effect of the wins and the losses. That’s easy to look at. It’s also the effect on your body,” Tebow said. “Georgia has absolutely taken some body blows. Look at how many players are injured. They haven’t played a game this year where they have been fully healthy. I know a lot of teams take body blows throughout the season. But this is a team that tomorrow afternoon, tomorrow evening? They’re not going to be a healthy team.
“They’re playing a lot of backups. You know, that’s also one of the things that Kirby has done so well. He has been able to fit in roles and plug in guys, whether that’s been defensive line, secondary, receivers playing so many different places,” Tebow continued. “That also needs to be taken into account. This is a team that has been hobbling into a lot of really big games. They’ve done a lot of those really well.”
To be clear, though, Tebow isn’t wanting to make an excuse for Georgia because of those injuries.
“I don’t think it’s an excuse,” Tebow clarified. “I think it’s just something that everybody has to handle and the great ones handle it better than the rest.”

Georgia has been making the most of their roster, albeit one of the better ones in the entire sport, at times this season with some of the health issues that it has had, including involving some of their more important names. Mykel Williams, Smael Mondon, and Tate Ratledge are among those who have missed significant time at points during this year.
As for Saturday against No. 7 Tennessee, the Bulldogs will already be without their leading rusher in Trevor Etienne. He joins two other running backs that’ll be out Saturday based on the injury report.
Injuries are what they are at some point for every team and Georgia is no exception as they’ll have to adjust again. Still, when looking at the entire season, Tebow thinks it’s something that we should keep in mind.
“It’s going to be interesting to see how they handle all of the injuries and how that also is handled when it comes to playmakers,” said Tebow.
