Georgia has an interesting dynamic at the quarterback position right now. Stetson Bennett has been the team’s starter as JT Daniels has worked his way back from injury. Daniels returned last week, playing well off the bench. As Saturday’s kickoff against Tennessee nears, Tim Tebow has weighed in on Georgia’s quarterback room.

“I think that they believe it’s Stetson Bennett’s team,” Tebow said on The Paul Finebaum Show. “I think you’re going to see depending on how the game goes probably both. This is a run first play defense second team from their perspective. They think that the added benefit of Stetson Bennett’s legs makes their team better than the deep threat of JT’s arm in the passing game.

“I think Kirby loves to be able to control the game, win on their style of play. Gain first downs on the quarterback’s legs, put the ball into Zamir White’s hands, the offensive line, and trust the defense. I think he’s comfortable with that style of play and maybe that’s why he leans towards Stetson a little bit.”

Bennett has completed 66.7 percent of his passes this season for 1,412 yards, 14 touchdowns and four interceptions. He also has 193 rushing yards. Daniels has played sparingly due to injuries, but he has completed 74.4 percent of his passes for six touchdowns and three interceptions.

Tebow said that both Georgia quarterbacks could play vs. Tennessee

Bennett got the start last week against Missouri, going 13-of-19 for 255 yards and two touchdowns. Daniels came in with a big lead, and he was 7-of-11 for 82 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Even when Daniels isn’t on the field, he makes an impact on the game by helping Bennett on the sidelines. That gives Georgia head coach Kirby Smart confidence that Daniels is doing what he needs to do to be prepared.

“I know he did a nice job while he wasn’t in the game,” Smart said of Daniels. “He was over by me calling out the defenses, the checks, going through them like he was playing the game. To hear him call out coverages and the checks and know exactly what he’s planning on going to, it was really good. It gives you a lot of confidence in him when he’s over there making those and talking to Stetson when he comes off the field.”

Smart was asked about the performance of Daniels in his return after last week’s game. He thought that Daniels did a “good job.”

“Health wise he seemed fine,” Smart said.

“I haven’t talked to him about it but he didn’t take any major hits. Watching him play, I thought he did a good job. He had a command of the offense. Like I said Saturday, he did a really good job of being over there and seeing what the defense was trying to do.”

Kickoff for Saturday’s game between Georgia and Tennessee is set for 3:30 p.m. ET.
