Trevor Etienne injury update: Will the Georgia RB play in the second half?
Trevor Etienne was experiencing the Florida–Georgia rivalry from the UGA sideline for the first time in his career. The former Florida running back returned to Jacksonville as a Bulldog but has not been able to make a significant impact. Just before halftime, Etienne was shown going back to the locker room with an apparent injury.
Coming out of the halftime break, an update on Etienne was provided on the ABC broadcast. There is some good news from ESPN’s Holly Rowe, revealing Etienne is available to play in the second half. But there is apparently a significant amount of pain in the rib area after taking a hit. If Etienne does get back on the field, he will be battling.
“Coach Kirby Smart told me he took a pretty significant shot to the rib,” Rowe said. “He is going to try to play here in this second half but he’s in a lot of pain. So, they don’t know how much or how effective he will be. He had a conversation with Trevor coming down the tunnel and looks like he does want to play but guys, it’s a pain tolerance issue.”

Etienne has just 31 yards on the day on seven carries but is still Georgia’s leading rusher. Nate Frazier has taken over in his absence, also sitting at seven touches but for nine yards less. Getting something going on the ground will be critical for offensive coordinator Mike Bobo in the second half.
Right after Rowe finished up her report, Frazier was the one to take the field. Etienne was not shown with his helmet on quite yet. To this point, no signs have been shown of him returning due to the rib injury. However, for now, Etienne is considered available as Georgia is down a touchdown to Florida.
