Troubling new details emerge from incident report on Rara Thomas' arrest
More details have emerged regarding the arrest of Georgia wide receiver Rara Thomas. An incident report showed an altercation in a dorm room was called in by a third party, On3 and DawgsHQ’s Jake Rowe reported.
Thomas was taken into custody early Monday morning when a “verbal argument” broke out in a dorm room, but “resolved itself,” according to the incident report. The alleged victim said she tried to escape the gym, but the argument continued via text message and started again when she got back.
Then, when the alleged victim tried to leave the situation, she said Thomas stood in the doorway and wouldn’t let her go. She then tried to call her mother, which is when Thomas grabbed her phone and smart watch, and he then allegedly grabbed her right arm and left a bruise before pushing her into the bed and pushing her again once she tried to get back up. He also allegedly broke a laptop.
Thomas is facing misdemeanor battery and felony false imprisonment charges as a result of his arrest. He was booked into Athens-Clarke County Jail at 4:04 a.m. ET Monday morning and later released on bond.

Thomas played 19 games with Mississippi State before transferring to Georgia last month prior to the national championship. He finished his time in Starkville with 62 catches, 878 yards, 12 touchdowns and 14.2 yards per catch. He was expected to be a key contributor to Georgia’s new-look offense after the Bulldogs won their second straight national championship.
As a member of the Class of 2021, Thomas was a three-star prospect out of Eufaula (Ala.) High, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 31 overall prospect in the state, the No. 113 wide receiver in the class and the No. 769 overall prospect in the class when he committed to Mississippi State.
