Former UAB safety Adrian Maddox has flipped his transfer commitment from Florida to Georgia, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Maddox originally committed to Florida on Sunday. Instead, the Conyers, Ga. native is now coming back home to the Peach State after initially pledging with the rival Gators out of the NCAA Transfer Portal.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound safety has logged 114 total tackles, 3.0 sacks, four forced fumbles, three interceptions and 15 passes defended thus far in his career.

Maddox had 44 tackles, 2 forced fumbles and an interception this season as UAB’s starting nickelback. He also had seven pass breakups, which was second on the team. Maddox’s interception was returned 99 yards for a touchdown vs. Rice.

Maddox started 10 of the 11 games he participated in this season in Birmingham, his only at UAB after transferring following two seasons at Alabama State from 2022-23.

Maddox was unranked as a member of the 2022 signing class out of Heritage (Conyers, Ga.) High, where he was the Region 6-AAA defensive player of the year in 2021.

USC transfers Zachariah, Zion Branch commit to Georgia

Georgia has added a couple of big-time commitments from the transfer portal. USC transfers Zachariah Branch and Zion Branch have committed to the Bulldogs, per On3’s Pete Nakos

Zachariah Branch in particular is a potential game-changer for Georgia as he is one of the top players in the transfer portal. The former five-star recruit caught 47 passes for 503 yards and one touchdown this season.

As a freshman in 2023, Zachariah Branch caught 31 passes for 320 yards and two touchdowns. He also averaged nearly 21 yards per punt return. In addition to his two receiving touchdowns, Branch scored on a punt return, kickoff return and had a rushing touchdown as a true freshman.

Zachariah Branch was ranked as the No. 4 overall recruit and top receiver in the class of 2023, per the On3 Industry Rankings.

His brother Zion Branch is an excellent player as well. The defensive back appeared in 10 games this season, recording 19 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, a sack and three pass breakups.
