Former UNLV Rebels quarterback Jayden Maiava has a new home, as he’s committed to taking his talents to Georgia via the transfer portal.

The Bulldogs are getting a quarterback brimming with potential. Maiava has been with the Rebels for two seasons. He took a redshirt in 2022, and he was the Mountain West Freshman of the Year.

He led UNLV to the conference championship game and completed 62.9 percent of passes for 3,085 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also ran for 277 yards and three scores in the process.

“I hope this letter finds you all in good health and high spirits. It is with mixed emotions that I am writing to inform you that I have decided to enter the transfer portal, marking the end of my journey with UNLV,” Maiava wrote, when he originally entered the portal. “… This decision to enter the transfer portal was not made lightly.

“I believe it is the right step for my personal and athletic growth and I hope you understand and respect my choice. Thank you once again for everything. I am forever grateful for the support and encouragement. Wishing the UNLV football program, my coaches, teammates, and fans continued success in the future.”

Georgia is always looking at add talent, even with Carson Beck in the fold. Jayden Maiava is a fascinating player, and provides solid depth. We’ll see how he performs with the Bulldogs if he gets a shot at the starting gig.

Jayden Maiava played high school football at Kaimuki (HI), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 986 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
