More on Georgia’s addition of Smurf Millender from UTSA

The transfer portal took four guards away from Georgia at the end of this season. It has now given the Bulldogs four guards in return with a second addition on Monday as UTSA’s Smurf Millender announced that he will be continuing basketball career at UGA.

Millender was a bright spot for the Roadrunners in his sophomore season. He averaged 34.5 minutes per game where he hit an impressive 43.8 percent of his three-point tries. He also shot over 87 percent from the free-throw line. Millender averaged 14.9 points, three rebounds, and 3.3 assists per contest while committing less than two turnovers per game.

Millender scored 20 points or more in four of the Roadrunners final five games of the season including a 24-point outburst against East Carolina in the second round of the American Athletic Conference Tournament. He also had seven rebounds in that game. Despite his small stature, Millender was a consistent force for UTSA. He scored double digits in 17 straight games to end his sophomore year.

Georgia has been hit hard in the back court since the season ended, losing Silas DemaryDeShayne MontgomerySavo Drezgic, and Jordyn Kee to the transfer portal. The Dawgs also lost Dakota Leffew and Tyrin Lawrence to exhausted eligibility. Millender now joins Jeremiah Wilkinson, Justin Bailey, and Jordan Ross as backcourt additions via the portal. The Bulldogs have also landed a wing in Kanon Catchings.
