There are very few people in the country who know a player as well as the one they compete with every day in practice. That certainly seems to be the case at Georgia, where edge rusher Warren Brinson recently praised offensive lineman Amarius Mims.

While praising Mims, Brinson called him the best tackle in the country and a future Hall of Famer.

“He’s the best tackle in the country,” Warren Brinson said. “That’s all. That explains everything, you know, the best tackle in the country.”

Amarius Mims was a five-star recruit in the Class of 2021, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. At six-foot and seven-inches tall, Mims has the ideal size for a tackle. In 2022, he played in 12 games and was named All-SEC First Team at SEC Media Days.

“You don’t see people beat him clean at all. His length, his strength, everything that he has, I mean, he has all the intangibles to be a Hall of Fame offensive lineman,” Brinson said. “I mean, Amarius, he’s a guy. Because I line up against him every day. When he touches you, you feel it.”

It was at SEC Media Days where fellow offensive lineman Sedrick Van Pran praised Amarius Mims.

“So just being frank, I think he fits in as a goofball. He’s the guy that provides comic relief whenever things are getting serious and hot. You know, you may be a hundred degrees and running guys are ready to get after it, and he says something funny to kind of calm guys down. He’s that kind of guy,” Van Pran said.

“But also, he’s like, immensely talented. That guy is one of God’s gifts, just physically. Super, super excited to see what he can do this year.”

Kirby Smart wants to create depth across the line of scrimmage

One of the goals for head coach Kirby Smart this offseason has been to build depth across the line of scrimmage.

“We’re not as deep as we’ve been. We don’t have the depth that probably we have had. Maybe that’s a luxury compared to other people. I don’t know. I think we’ve got to get deeper at that position,” Smart said.

“The only way to get deeper at the position — you can’t get anybody at this point. There’s nobody coming out for waivers. So, what you’re trying to grow the younger players and get your higher players to play at a higher level and even be able to play more snaps. Without the same depth we had last year, we’re going to have to be in better shape and we got to get the freshman ready to play.”
