On Friday, the long-awaited matchup between No. 2 Michigan and No. 3 Georgia will finally kickoff.

The Georgia Bulldogs made it to the College Football Playoff after a nearly perfect season was upended at the last possible moment prior to the postseason. Georgia went a perfect 12-0 in the regular season, winning the SEC regular-season crown and cruising through its entire regular-season schedule. The Bulldogs, led by a top-ranked defense that has allowed a hair over 10 total touchdowns and 3,600 yards of total offense through 13 games, were unable to beat the then-underdog Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship, dropping the Bulldogs from the No. 1 seed to the No. 3 seed. Now, with the No. 3 seed, the Bulldogs will face Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan Wolverines — ranked No. 2 and making the program’s first-ever College Football Playoff appearance — in the Orange Bowl.

Ahead of the Friday night matchup, Georgia released a hype video to get fans ready for the College Football Playoff, narrated by Georgia alumnus Sony Michel.

Report: Michigan receives game-changing update ahead of Georgia matchup

Michigan safety Dax Hill, who was previously “questionable” to play in the Orange Bowl on Friday against Georgia after entering COVID-19 protocols, appears to be one step closer to playing in the Wolverines’ first-ever College Football Playoff game.

According to a report, Hill is now with the team in Miami, just one night before kickoff in the Orange Bowl. Hill’s potential return to play is a significant development of its own, but his arrival may not guarantee availability in the game. A subsequent report, however, certainly made it seem like Hill is trending towards playing on Friday — shortly after his arrival in Miami, he attended team meetings with other Wolverines, suggesting that he’s been released from COVID-19 protocols.

Hill has 65 tackles this season (39 solo stops) and half a sack, along with one fumble recovery, two interceptions and seven passes defended. A 6-foot, 192-pound junior, Hill was an All-Big Ten honoree this season, being included on the first team by the coaches and second team by the media. In 32 career games (22 starts), he has 146 tackles (93 solo stops), 14 passes defended and four interceptions.

Harbaugh said Wednesday that Hill was “questionable” to play in the Orange Bowl, adding that he is “not ruled out” and called his status a “game-time decision.” Hill was part of Michigan’s game plan installation before the team departed for Miami, according to Detroit News.
