No. 2 Georgia is cruising against Auburn, heading toward a 6-0 start to the season as the Bulldogs put together a much more comfortable win than either of the previous two weeks. A long Stetson Bennett IV touchdown run early in the fourth quarter all but iced it.

Bennett broke free on a 64-yard touchdown run when Auburn rushed four and Bennett took off up the middle. He split several defenders and simply outraced them to the end zone to extend Georgia’s lead to 28-3 with 14:49 remaining in the game.

Check out the run, which was a career-long for Bennett by more than double his previous best (30 yards).

Bennett had to catch his breath following the long run, doing so in time to serve as the place-holder for the extra point attempt.

His long run put Georgia over the 200-yard mark rushing, with the Bulldogs sitting at 209 yards on the ground early in the fourth quarter.

Georgia approaching its bye unbeaten

The Bulldogs aren’t quite to the midway point, but Stetson Bennett IV’s touchdown run probably turns the page on the Auburn game at the midway point of the season.

Georgia will host Vanderbilt next week in its final game before a bye week.

A treacherous stretch will begin on the opposite side of that bye week. The annual game against SEC East rival Florida is first up on Oct. 29, at a neutral-site location in Jacksonville, Fla., for the ‘World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.’

Then a showdown with currently unbeaten No. 8 Tennessee looms. Georgia will play host to that game at Sanford Stadium.

The Bulldogs, fresh off winning the 2021 national title, are looking to repeat as coach Kirby Smart continues to build the program into a juggernaut with elite recruiting and talent all over the field.
