As the Georgia Bulldogs started their baseball season off on Friday, quarterback Stetson Bennett IV threw out the first pitch of the game. The national champion quarterback helped start things off the right way, throwing the first pitch with some great speed and just below the strike zone.

Georgia started off the game quickly after Bennett’s opening pitch, scoring in the first inning off of a home run from Ben Anderson. The Bulldogs went on to win the game over Albany 4-2 after not giving up any runs until the eighth inning. Junior Jonathan Cannon was excellent in his first pitching start of the season, giving up only 2 hits through six innings and no runs allowed.

Bennett’s presence on Friday may have been a boost to his school, but his biggest impact could be yet to come in the 2022 football season. With Bennett’s return for the Bulldogs and his championship-winning experience, Georgia will look to become the first team to repeat as champions in the College Football Playoff era. Additionally, he has the chance to become the first starting quarterback since Alabama’s A.J. McCarron in the 2011 and 2012 seasons to win multiple national championships as the starting quarterback.
