A day ahead of Game 1 of the Athens Super Regional against N.C. State, Georgia head coach Wes Johnson shared that pitcher Charlie Goldstein would not be available to pitch during the weekend best-of-three series. Goldstein appeared to re-injure his throwing arm from a previous injury during a regional appearance last weekend.

That came after Goldstein hadn’t pitched since May 4, and put his status into doubt for the coming weekend series. Johnson addressed the doubts with confirmation that Goldstein would be out for at least this series.

“Charlie won’t be with us this weekend. We’ll get the final — Charlie will be here, but I’ll just go ahead and tell you, he’s not on the active roster,” Johnson said.

As for the possibility that Goldstein could return were Georgia to make the College World Series — beginning on June 14 — Johnson didn’t specify.
