On300 receiver Luther Burden of East St. Louis, Ill., hasn’t said much about his official visit this past weekend to Georgia. But the four-star senior did tweet an impressive-looking series of photos from his time in Athens.

The photos – which have become a common part of the official visit weekend for most recruits – show Luther Burden at different locations throughout his visit weekend. The gallery also features multiple pictures from inside Sanford Stadium.

Burden, the nation’s No. 90 player overall, was committed to Oklahoma for more than 10 months. But in August, he reopened his recruitment.

Alabama, Georgia and Missouri emerged as his top three teams. But in all honesty, it’s down to UGA and Mizzou. Luther Burden visited the Tide this summer but hasn’t been back to campus since and would be walking into a room loaded with elite talent.

Both MU, UGA feel confident for Luther Burden

Luther Burden’s visit to Georgia comes just days before his announcement on Tuesday. Burden hasn’t spoken on the record about what he thought about his visit to Athens. But heading into the visit, intel indicated Mizzou was the team to beat.

Burden has taken multiple trips to Missouri, including an unofficial visit during a 7-on-7 camp that East St. Louis was participating in. The Tigers have two 2020 recruits from ESL on the roster, and are recruiting multiple players in the 2022, 2023 and 2024 classes from there.

“Mizzou is close to home, so that’s always a plus,” Burden said recently. “Coach (Eliah) Drinkwitz is really rebuilding the program, and I can see that they are getting better with recruiting. I really like coach Drinkwitz’s offense. They throw the ball 50 times a game.”

Georgia made move this weekend

That being said, UGA sources seem to feel like the Dawgs did everything they could this past weekend to shift the momentum in their direction.

Before the visit, Luther Burden said he had built strong relationships with the coaches at Georgia and the lure of playing for one of the top programs in the country is hard to pass up.

“Coach (Cortez) Hankton is a real dude,” Luther Burden said in a recent interview with On3. “I feel like I can trust him. Me and Coach (Kirby) Smart also built a relationship. We talk almost every day now.”

“Georgia is low on receivers right now. Me coming in right now would be a good time to come play right away. They play true freshmen a lot, and that’s big for me.”

A recruiting insider in St. Louis indicated Monday morning they “still feel good about Mizzou” landing Luther Burden. But there’s certainly smoke that Georgia might have pushed ahead with the visit.

“I have feeling this will go back and forth a few times,” that source said. “We might not truly know until the day of his announcement. Georgia today. Missouri tomorrow?”
