Zion Logue calls on Georgia fans to help impact game against Tennessee
As No. 3 Georgia prepares to host No. 1 Tennessee, fresh off the release of the first College Football Playoff rankings of the 2022 season, the Bulldogs are calling on their fans to help impact the game.
Sanford Stadium can be a difficult place to play when the fans are revved all the way up.
“That’s what we need. When our fans are in it, that’s when we want to go play our best football,” defensive tackle Zion Logue said. “So we know we’re going to need everybody on Saturday at 3:30. I ask the fans like, ‘Please come out, we’re going to need 94,000, 95,000 strong for this one.'”
Zogue’s plea to fans almost certainly won’t fall on deaf ears.
Not with ESPN’s College GameDay in town and the top two teams in the AP Poll set to square off with the SEC East essentially on the line. With Georgia at 5-0 and Tennessee at 4-0 in SEC play, the division winner won’t officially be crowned on Saturday, but it’ll be close enough.
Neither program wants to have to rely on the other losing two more league games in order to make it to Atlanta.
The odds of that happening are slim, making Saturday’s showdown in Sanford a de-facto play-in for the SEC Championship Game. Georgia is looking to repeat as SEC East winners, hoping to come through with an SEC title win this time around after falling to Alabama a year ago in Atlanta before going on to win the national title.

Georgia hoping to get key players back
Despite having a bye week just one week ago, Georgia enters Saturday’s game with a lengthy injury report. Star edge rusher Nolan Smith will reportedly miss the rest of the season after suffering a pec injury, but the Bulldogs are hoping to get a few others back.
Coach Kirby Smart provided updates on running back Kendall Milton, receiver AD Mitchell and offensive lineman Amarius Mims on Tuesday.
“AD has not been able to practice with us. He is working on the side. We are still hopeful to get him back,” Smart said, according to Palmer Thombs of Dawgs HQ. “Amarius is working on the side. He has good flex in his knee. He was able to do some sets, move around and left and hit some things but hasn’t practiced with us. Kendall practiced with us and did some reps today.”
Georgia and Tennessee are slated for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff on Saturday with a broadcast on CBS.
