Zion Logue reveals his thoughts on the hit that caused Jalen Carter's injury
Zion Logue may be one of the unsung heroes among Georgia‘s defense, but he’s going to be more prominently featured if Jalen Carter has to miss time with an injury.
To illustrate, Carter left Saturday’s game against Missouri with an injury stemming from a controversial block, many calling it a dirty play. With Carter preparing for the 2023 NFL Draft, an injury could be extra detrimental to him, but Logue revealed his teammate is still in a great head-space.

“He’s still in great spirits,” revealed Logue. “He’s still the guy that walks around laughing, having fun. So when you see that from a guy that possibly got some time taken away from him from a game, he’s taking it very well. He’s still in a great head space.”
Nevertheless, Logue recognizes adjustments will have to be made, saying, “The biggest adjustment is you’ve got to go play. One guy may play a little bit more than he’s used to, but that’s nothing we can’t handle.”
While Logue may see an uptick in snaps due to Carter’s injury, he didn’t hold back on his true feelings regarding the situation.
“Personally, I might be biased when I say this, but yes,” responded Logue, when asked if he believed the play was a chop block. “You can’t really do anything about it now. It’s one of those things that you can’t really control. Just got to keep playing. … It’s just kind of one of those things that kind of happens.
“It was a — it looked like it was a dirty play a little bit, but you can’t control it.”
Regardless on if Jalen Carter is able to suit up or not, Zion Logue and Georgia will be ready to take on Auburn this coming Saturday, looking to avoid a disastrous upset in the process.
Kirby Smart raves about the growth from Zion Logue
Furthermore, defensive lineman Zion Logue may not be at the top of any draft boards or hogging space in the Georgia highlight reel, as the veteran has worked their way from scout team to being consistent contributors for the Bulldogs on the defensive side. Recently, head coach Kirby Smart heaped praise on him for his growth.

Mostly, Smart commended him for how he each toiled for a number of years down on the depth chart, honing his play until he had an opportunity. It’s an example Smart wants others in the Georgia program to follow.
“Yeah, I don’t even know where to begin with Z Logue,” Smart said earlier this season. “He’s been a guy that, he’s sat behind the studs we had last year forever. And I was laughing today because we had Bear [Alexander] and Christen [Miller] going down against the one offense and getting just drilled. And I was telling Bear and Christen, you’ve got to do it to get better. And Z Logue was sitting there. I said ‘Ask Z Logue, he spent three years down there.’ Three years of going against Jamaree [Salyer] and Shaf [Justin Shaffer] and just every day.
“Now, he goes against the scout a lot and he’s over there making those guys better. But those young guys have to go over there and rep. And Z just spent a lot of time working his craft, getting better.”
Moreover, Logue has shown up this season playing in the middle of the defense. He hasn’t loaded up on counting stats, but does have a batted pass and a force fumble through three games.
“And he’s still got a lot of things he can improve on. But he’s not afraid to work at it,” Smart added.
