2024 QB Aaron Philo commits to Georgia Tech: 'They believe in me'
Bogart (Ga.) Prince Avenue quarterback Aaron Philo found the right combination in Georgia Tech. Philo has committed to the Yellow Jackets.
Philo originally committed to Minnesota. He backed off that commitment on April 10. Georgia Tech never went away. They’ve been all in on the 6-foot-2, 195-pound quarterback from the start though they had a pledge from four-star quarterback Jakhari Williams. Williams backed off that pledge on Tuesday.
They’ve made it clear that Philo was their guy.
“In recruiting all it takes is one guy to believe in you, and they believed in me from the start,” Philo told On3. “That means a lot when some other people haven’t believed in me. They’ve believed in me from the start. That shows a lot of who they are and how much they believe in me. Now, I’ve just got to go in there and be a leader.”
Aaron Philo believes in Georgia Tech
Philo believes in Georgia Tech as well. After decommitting and thinking about things, he sifted through all of the factors that Georgia Tech had in its favor. Offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner has had a connection with Philo since his days at Georgia.
Philo also feels quarterback coach and co-offensive coordinator Chris Weinke could be good for his development long term.
“It’s been a long process, I felt like God led me to Georgia Tech,” Philo said. “Coach (Chris) Weinke, I think he’s one of the best quarterback coaches in the country. I think I’m going to get developed at Georgia Tech better than I would anywhere else. My relationship with coach Faulkner is good, I’ve known him for years and I love him. It’s a really good fit for me. I really like where the program is going. We’re about to bring in a winning culture and I think the program is about to have a turnaround and I’m really excited to be a part of it.”

Philo also relishes the chance of playing close to home. He also feels that Georgia Tech no matter the distance was a natural fit.
“I think if Georgia Tech was five hours away, it’d still be the place I’d be going,” Philo said. “What I can get at Georgia Tech is better than what I can get anywhere in the country. They’ve made it clear that I’m their guy and I’m the guy they want to have the key to the program and lead the program to multiple championships and turn it around. It all ties together. I’m really excited about this.”
QB’s message to Georgia Tech’s fan base
Philo feels confident in his ability. He feels his intangibles could be a big piece of the puzzle at Georgia Tech in the years to come.
“They’re getting a winner, a competitor and a guy that will put everything on the line to win ball games and championships,” Philo said. “I’m a guy that’s going to come in and every day and work his hardest.”
