3-star WR Trey Horne commits to Georgia Tech after official visit
Rabun Gap-Nacoochee 2024 wide receiver Trey Horne believes in what Georgia Tech head coach Brent Key is selling.
After his official visit over the weekend Horne dove on board with Georgia Tech and committed to the Yellow Jackets. Horne went into Atlanta over the weekend leaning toward Georgia Tech.
Once he was able to check a few boxes, it was an easy decision.
“My main concern was the city but it feels like a college campus,” Horne told On3. “What made me commit was coach (Brent) Key and how much they’re pouring into the program. It’s amazing. Coach Key is turning Georiga Tech around.”
Georgia Tech’s education was also a key factor for Horne.
“It’s Georgia Tech, if you have a degree from Georgia Tech, you can basically get a job anywhere,” Horne said. “They do a lot of internships for the players. There are a lot of resources to help me grow off the field.”
Georgia Tech is in the first year of former Georgia assistant Buster Faulkner leading the Yellow Jackets’ offense. Horne is expected to play wide receiver for the Yellow Jackets.
He’s followed Faulkner’s success in his previous stops. Horne expects a high-flying offense and is excited to have an opportunity to make plays.

“Coach Faulkner is my guy,” Horne said. “He loves to throw the ball. When he was at Southern Miss, his quarterbacks were averaging like 400 yards a game. He loves to throw the ball. Literally in the spring game, they’re running four verticals. He likes to take shots and give his guys opportunities to make plays. I’m all about that.”
Trey Horne was a priority for Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech was on Horne heavily. The coaching staff made it clear that he was wanted in Atlanta.
“I wanted to go someplace where I was wanted,” Horne said. “I didn’t want to go somewhere and just be another guy, I wanted to be someplace where I was welcomed and they really wanted me. They gave me a chance. That pushed me toward that school a lot more because they wanted me a lot.”
Georgia Tech’s staff wasn’t the only one pushing for Horne. Quarterback commit Aaron Philo had been in heavy communication with Horne for weeks.
Horne and Philo were able to connect in person during Horne’s official visit over the weekend.
“Me and Aaron have been in contact for a while, he’s been texting me for the past couple of months,” Horne said. “This weekend, he was all in my ear about committing. I went in with Georgia Tech already one of my top schools. This weekend just confirmed it, so I had to go ahead and do it.”
