Coveted 2023 OL Gabriel Fortson commits to Georgia Tech
Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb Christian 2023 offensive lineman Gabriel Fortson has been sold on Georgia Tech since this summer.
He wanted to play things slow. As the Yellow Jackets parted ways with coach Geoff Collins, Fortson leaned into the idea of playing for Georgia Tech. Friday, Fortson made it official. He has committed to the Yellow Jackets fully.
Interim head coach Brent Key was the main factor.
“It made my decision a little bit more solidified when Key took the helm,” Fortson told On3. “It made my decision a whole lot easier for me… Not only does he care about how good I am on the football, but he also cares about how I good I am as a person. That resonates with me. That makes me feel like he cares about who people are and how they’re doing versus how they’re performing on the field.”
Key was at the heart of the family atmosphere that won Fortson over. Georgia Tech feels like a big family for the three-star center.
“It just feels like family there and it’s an opportunity at a great education,” Fortson said. “Ultimately it feels like home. I has this figured out since late June.”

Gabriel Fortson feels Georgia Tech’s future is bright
Georgia Tech is steering toward a different feel completely in the coming years. They have already named a new athletic director in J Batt from Alabama.
They could still make a move at the head coach position in the offseason.
Either way, Fortson is a local prospect that hopes to see Georgia Tech doing big things once again.
“It’s very important to me,” Fortson said. “So far, coach Key has shown that he can turn the program around. So far it looks like they’re on the path to getting back to the glory days of Georgia Tech football. That means a lot.”
Fortson says his recruitment is still open to new offers and he will take a few other visits. He hasn’t decided on which schools as of now.
