4-star RB Duke Watson decommits from Georgia Tech
Forsyth (Ga.) Mary Persons four-star running back Duke Watson announced that he has decommitted from Georgia Tech. He announced the news on Twitter.
Watson had been committed to Georgia Tech since March 11.
Watson is the No. 366 overall prospect and No. 31 running back in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 46 player in Georgia.
The 6-foot-0, 185-pounder isn’t ranked in the 2024 On300 but On3 ranks him as the No. 25 running back and No. 38 player in Georgia.
Watson is currently set to take an official visit to Penn State on June 9. It will be his first visit to Happy Valley and the Nittany Lions currently hold a commanding lead in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) to land his pledge at 59.6%.
The Nittany Lions extended an offer to Watson last November.
Watson took unofficial visits to Auburn, Georgia Tech and Tennessee during the season in 2022. This spring he visited Georgia Tech, NC State and Alabama.

As a junior Watson ran for 1,669 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns, averaging 8.3 yards per carry. He also had 184 yards receiving on 17 catches, adding two more scores.
Watson’s decommitment leaves Georgia Tech with five commitments in its 2024 recruiting class. The Yellow Jackets’ class ranks as the No. 47 class in the country and No. 10 in the ACC.
Georgia Tech’s current pledges are three-star quarterback Aaron Philo, three-star interior offensive lineman Santana Alo-Tupuola and three-star linebackers Jordan Boyd, Tah’j Butler and Demontrae Gaston.
