Four-star EDGE CJ Jackson of Tucker (GA) High announced his decommitment from Georgia Tech Thursday afternoon.

The 6-foot-3, 225 pounder had been committed to the Yellow Jackets since June.

The Peach State EDGE holds a total of 22 offers including Clemson, Auburn, Florida, and others.

CJ Jackson Recruiting Profile

Jackson ranks as the No. 181 player according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 14 EDGE and the No. 24 player in the state of Georgia.

On3 ranks him higher than the industry, as he tabs in as the No. 64 player nationally, the No. 7 EDGE, and the No. 10 player in Georgia.

Scouting Summary

On3’s Director of Scouting and Rankings writes about Jackson as a college recruit:

“Active speed rusher who creates constant disruption due to his quickness and hair-on-fire effort level. Measured in at over 6-foot-3, around 220 pounds prior to his senior season. Has good length for the position, with arms that measure 33.75 inches. Has notable play speed. Shows high-level quickness, firing off the snap. Redirects quickly with lateral movements. Capable of winning with pure speed, but also shows the ability to hit offensive tackles with up and under and hesitation moves. Shows outstanding speed in pursuit. Closes very quickly. Plays with a high effort level. Plays with a willing level of physicality and throws his body around as a run defender, despite being lighter. Will need to add mass to aid in anchoring against the run. Has solid size but is not as overly imposing as some other blue-chip EDGE prospects.”

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $75K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Personal Life (via On3)

“Christopher Jackson spent his high school career at two top Georgia high school programs – Tucker and Parkview. As a sophomore, he was at Parkview and played some on a team loaded with blue-chip talent. But he “came home” to Tucker for his junior season. And it was a 2022 to remember for Jackson. He quickly emerged as one of the top pass rushers in Atlanta and blew up on the national recruiting scene. “I’ve always felt like I was capable of getting these offers and doing everything that I’m doing now,” Jackson told On3’s Jeremy Johnson. “I feel like hard work pays off. That’s something that I believe. I’ve seen my mom work hard to accomplish the things she’s accomplished. Hard work pays off. Not to sound cocky, but I knew one of these days someone was going to take a chance. It opened up the floodgates.”
