Four-star RB Javin Simpkins commits to Georgia Tech again
Miami (Fla.) Norland four-star running back Javin Simpkins is sure on Georgia Tech this time. The No. 336 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus was once a Georgia Tech commit.
He decommmitted from the Yellow Jackets in December. Simpkins needed to be sure.
“I’ve known for a few weeks ago, but I just wanted to be really sure,” Simpkins told On3. “I didn’t want to commit and then something go wrong and I decommit again. I wanted to make sure this was the right choice.”
He got his assurance after going through the recruiting process over the last seven months. Some coaching moves happened. Tashard Choice made the move to Texas. The Longhorns were involved heavily down the stretch in Simpkins’ recruitment.
Georgia Tech replaced Choice with Mike Daniels. Daniels helped win Simpkins back over. Simpkins and Daniels were in contact every day.

“That meant a lot to me,” Simpkins said. “It showed me that there wasn’t any fake love. They didn’t turn their back on me after I decommitted. That meant a lot to me. It played a huge role.”

“I’m feeling good about the program,” Simpkins said. “I feel like it’s coming back to what Georgia Tech used to be. Last year wasn’t the best year. I feel like they’re building on it. They’re starting to turn it around. I’m going to help turn it around.”
