West Orange (N.J.) three-star defensive lineman Gensley Auguste announced his decommitment from Georgia Tech on Thursday. He was previously pledged to the Yellow Jackets since June 12.

Auguste is the No. 1,195 overall prospect and No. 126 defensive lineman in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 19 player in New Jersey.

On3 rates Auguste higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Even though he is not ranked in the 2023 On300, Auguste is the No. 77 defensive lineman and No. 13 player in New Jersey.

“I will be decommitting from Georgia Tech my recruitment is now 100% open,” Auguste wrote in a statement published to social media.

Following Auguste’s decision, Georgia Tech’s 2023 recruiting class contains 12 commitments. The Yellow Jackets’ group ranks No. 68 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 13 in the ACC.

Head coach Brent Key and his staff still have a commitment from Upper Marlboro (Md.) Rock Creek Christian Academy three-star defensive lineman Anthony Little. He chose Georgia Tech on June 6.

Auguste is one of multiple players to decommit from the Yellow Jackets this cycle. Others are Green Cove Springs (Fla.) IMG Academy three-star cornerback Jarvis Lee and Pensacola (Fla.) Pine Forest three-star defensive lineman Elijah Douglas.

A 6-foot-5, 255-pound prospect, Auguste has an On3 NIL Valuation of $5K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
