Georgia Tech offers 2024 5-star DL David Stone

Oklahoma City (Okla.) IMG Academy five-star defensive lineman David Stone received an offer from Georgia Tech on Thursday. He announced the news over social media.

Stone is the No. 9 overall prospect and No. 1 defensive lineman in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 4 player in Florida.

On Dec. 23, Stone revealed his top 10 schools. They are Oklahoma, Texas A&M, USC, LSU, Oregon, Alabama, Michigan State, Miami, Tennessee and Florida. 

“I feel like out of those 10 schools, those are probably the most realistic options for me to go to,” Stone told On3’s Chad Simmons. “I feel like I can take them seriously in this process and they take me pretty seriously as well.”

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Sooners have a commanding lead for his commitment at 96.7%. He has visited Oklahoma six times.

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college. 

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

“We talk pretty much every other day, at least once a week,” Stone said about communication with his finalists. “It’s just constant communication. We’re building relationships off the field and I feel like that’s pretty necessary for them to consider you as an option. I want to have relations with the coaches and staff and everyone on the team.”

Georgia Tech currently has one commitment in their 2024 recruiting class. Macon (Ga.) First Presbyterian Day School four-star quarterback Jakhari Williams, the No. 117 overall prospect in the 2024 On300, chose the Yellow Jackets on Nov. 21, 2022.

Stone has an On3 NIL Valuation of $144K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
