ESPN insider Pete Thamel has provided an update on Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King ahead of the Yellow Jackets’ game against Virginia Tech on Saturday. King is out for the game and will miss a second straight week, according to Thamel.

“Sources: Georgia Tech starting quarterback Haynes King will be out today against Virginia Tech. Veteran reserve Zach Pyron will start again for Georgia Tech,” Thamel posted on Twitter.

Haynes King was also unable to suit up last weekend against Notre Dame. Zach Pyron started in his place and was 20 of 36 for 269 yards, with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions against the Irish.

Notre Dame beat Georgia Tech 31-13 with King unable to go.

Haynes King suffered the injury on Saturday, Oct. 12 in a win over North Carolina.

Immediately following that game, head coach Brent Key was vague about the status of King moving forward. He shared that he didn’t have an update on his starting quarterback and added that there’d be more information soon. However, he did note that King’s spirits were high and King was “enjoying the victory.”

King has completed 71.2 percent of his passes this season for 1,568 yards and eight touchdowns to only one interception. King also runs well, with 353 yards and six touchdowns on the ground. The Texas A&M transfer was having the best year of his career prior to the injury.
