Montgomery (Ala.) Montgomery Catholic Preparatory three-star cornerback L.J. Green has announced his decommitment from Georgia Tech. He was previously pledged to the Yellow Jackets since Aug. 1.

Green is the No. 1,272 overall prospect and No. 117 cornerback in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 51 player in Alabama.

On3 rates Green higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Even though he is not ranked in the 2023 On300, he is the No. 48 player in Alabama.

“I would like to thank the Georgia Institute of Technology and the coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to further my education and play at the next level,” Green wrote in a statement published to social media. “Also to the fans for the love and support throughout my season. After talking with my family, I have decided to de-commit from the Georgia Institute of Technology and re-open my recruitment. Thank you Montgomery Catholic for being with me throughout this process.”

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Louisville is leading for Green’s commitment at 51.5%. Green took an unofficial visit to the Cardinals on March 5.

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

Green has an On3 NIL Valuation of $11.8K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
