Camden (S.C.) three-star defensive lineman Shymeik Jones committed to Georgia Tech on Sunday night. He chose the Yellow Jackets hours after backing off his pledge to Appalachian State.

Jones is the No. 716 overall prospect and No. 75 defensive lineman in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 7 player in South Carolina.

Following Jones’ decision, Georgia Tech’s 2023 recruiting class contains 13 commitments. The Yellow Jackets’ group ranks No. 60 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 12 in the ACC.

Two of Georgia Tech’s commits are defensive linemen. They are Jones and Upper Marlboro (Md.) Rock Creek Christian Academy three-star Anthony Little, the No. 1,194 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus.

A 6-foot-5, 250-pound recruit, Jones has an On3 NIL Valuation of $5.9K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
