The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets finished 2023 with a 7-6 record. While the Yellow Jackets had opportunities to finish last season with a few more victories, the missed opportunity against rival the Georgia Bulldogs sticks out like a sore thumb. At the 2024 ACC Football Media Days, Georgia Tech defensive tackle Zeek Biggers shared his thoughts on the loss and a few other topics.

When it comes to Georgia Tech’s narrow 31-23 defeat at the hands of Georgia, one play sticks out like a sore thumb to some — Kyle Efford‘s missed tackle on Daijun Edwards on a critical third-and-three for the Bulldogs. While addressing the media, Biggers reminisced on that play and expressed his desire to beat Georgia this year.

“Definitely we obviously watch film, realize that was something we could have did and got a stop, possibly won that game,” said Biggers.

“Definitely the rivalry with the team down the road, I don’t know how to put it, but we know how we want to beat them every year, what we need to do to beat them every year. This year, we definitely going to try to get that job done. Hopefully, we come out with the victory.”

Georgia Tech had stolen the momentum from Georgia following back-to-back scoring drives from the Yellow Jackets to pull within eight points. The last drive of 10 plays, 80 yards, was capped off by a five-yard touchdown run by quarterback Haynes King with just under four minutes to go in the game. But Edwards’ five-yard scamper took nearly all of the air out of Bobby Dodd Stadium and essentially iced the game for the Bulldogs.

The Georgia-Georgia Tech football rivalry, also known as Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate, dates back to 1893, with 117 meetings between the two programs. The Bulldogs lead the series 71-41-5. However, the Yellow Jackets lay claim to the largest margin of victory, 48-0 in 1943, and the longest win streak, eight games from 1949-1956. That record might be in jeopardy as Georgia currently owns a six-game win streak dating back to 2017.

Biggers and company, we’ll look to get back on track and pick up a win against Georgia this year when the two teams face off in their annual season finale. The Bulldogs and Yellow Jackets will do battle on Nov. 29, with the game scheduled to air at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
