3-star QB Micah Alejado commits to Hawaii
Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman three-star quarterback Micah Alejado moved to Nevada from Hawaii in eighth grade. He will soon be returning to the Aloha State for his college football career.
Alejado announced his commitment to Hawaii on Sunday. He chose the Rainbow Warriors over UNLV and Utah State.
“A big part of my decision was to play for coach Timmy Chang,” Alejado told On3. “I got to know him when he was at Nevada. He recruited me there, he built a relationship with me and my parents and that really made an impact. We had that connection and when he took the job at Hawaii, that was big.”
The 5-foot-10, 165-pound signal-caller has visited Hawaii a couple of times, most recently in March. While on campus, he watched a spring practice.
“I really like what coach Timmy is doing,” said Alejado, the No. 1,137 overall prospect and No. 77 quarterback in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking. “He is bringing the run-and-shoot offense to Hawaii and I love the fit in that. He is an offensive guy. I like what his plan is and I think I can do well in his offense.”
Alejado is excited to spend his college football career in Hawaii
Returning to Hawaii played a role in Alejado’s decision. He still has a lot of friends and family there, so he is looking forward to playing in front of them in the coming seasons.
According to Alejado, he had a “good idea” he would commit to Hawaii following his last visit. He made a final trip to UNLV just to make sure, before telling Chang the good news around a week ago.

“The vibe at Hawaii is one big family,” Alejado said. “Everyone knows everyone. Everyone gives great love and support. I like how everyone is on the same page. The vibe is great around the campus.”
Alejado had a strong junior season at Bishop Gorman. As a result, he is confident in the skills he will bring to Hawaii.
“I feel like just a complete table,” Alejado previously told On3. “Just learning how to take care of the ball and then just making my right reasons, being on time and stuff like that and also, the more agile side to it with my feet and being able to create plays if I have to.”
“I feel like just being smart and leading the offense how it’s supposed to be led,” he added about what it takes to be a successful quarterback. “I feel like I’m able to make sure they’re in the right place at the right time and running the right things at the right time. I feel like everybody can just trust me on that part.”
