Houston coach Dana Holgorsen was upset with the wait his team had before their postgame press conference after beating Auburn on Tuesday. The Cougars beat the Tigers in the Birmingham Bowl 17-13 after a late touchdown in the fourth quarter.

After the game, Auburn had their press appearance before Houston, forcing Holgorsen to wait for roughly 20 minutes on standby.

When Holgorsen took the microphone for his press conference appearance after the win, he made sure to let everyone know how annoyed the wait made him. Telling everyone in attendance that they needed separate press events, Holgorsen said he didn’t understand why he had to wait 20 minutes longer after winning the game.

Despite the annoyance after the game, Holgorsen and the Cougars ended their season with a big win. After opening the year with a loss to Texas Tech, Houston went on to win their next 11 games to set up a huge AAC Championship game against the Cincinnati Bearcats.

Cincinnati defeated Houston to win the AAC title, using the strength of Houston’s season to make the College Football Playoff as the No. 4 seed. Houston earned a bowl game appearance in the Birmingham Bowl against Auburn for their work, and ended the season with a bowl game victory over the SEC.

Despite two turnovers to zero from Auburn, the Cougars outgained their opponent in yardage and first downs on the day. With time running out in the game, Houston drove 80 yards for the go-ahead touchdown with just over three minutes remaining.

Quarterback Clayton Tune completed two huge passes down the stretch to win the game. From midfield, Tune hit Christian Trahan for a 20-yard completion to get Houston into field goal range to potentially tie the game. After an incomplete pass on first down, Tune found Jake Herslow for the 26-yard touchdown and Houston held on to the win.
