The 2022 college basketball dunk contest turned out to be a pretty epic show on Thursday night. Houston guard Taze Moore put together a couple of pretty amazing dunks himself.

In one of them, he decided to take his jersey off and put on a Vince Carter Toronto Raptors jersey, paying homage to the greatest dunker of all-time. Once any player does that in a dunk contest, it had better be good. Moore did not disappoint as he soared up to the rim and jammed his elbow in the rim just like Carter did in the legendary 2000 NBA dunk contest.

Moore went on to win the 2022 college basketball slam dunk championship. Moore had another dunk where he touched the glass before he dunked the ball. Afterwards, he decided to do the griddy. Moore is an inspirational story and had to undergo five different knee surgeries to get back on the basketball court.

Taze Moore was an integral piece of the Cougars success the past few seasons

He was part of an incredible run to the Elite Eight this season by the Houston Cougars. Their team put together a blend of stifling defense with remarkable athleticism in the open floor, giving opponents across college basketball problems all season long. In his team’s 50-44 loss to the Villanova Wildcats in the Elite Eight, Moore stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points and 10 rebounds in 35 minutes of work.

This season, Moore averaged 10.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game, while shooting 44.1 percent from the field. He was also a critical piece of the Cougars’ remarkable Final Four run during the 2020-2021 college basketball season. His season high in points came against the Illinois Fighting Illini in this year’s NCAA Tournament, after he pumped in 21.

Winning the slam dunk championship was a phenomenal way for Moore to end his amazing career for the Houston Cougars.
