Frightening situation unfolding as Houston linebacker wheeled off in stretcher
A frightening situation is unfolding in Houston’s Friday night matchup against the Memphis Tigers. Cougar linebacker Donavan Mutin was pursuing Tiger running back Asa Martin on a screen play. After making contact, he went down and did not look responsive.
After being attended to by trainers and being surrounded by both teams, Mutin was wheeled off in a stretcher. According to the ESPN broadcast, he was seen moving his hands and has been taken to a local hospital via ambulance.
Mutin is a junior coming out of Spring, Texas, who has been with the Houston program for four seasons. Throughout his career, he has recorded 151 tackles, 11.5 of which were for a loss. Mutin has three sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries as well.
Before getting injured during the 2020 season, Mutin was named a team captain.
Paul Finebaum talks Cincinnati in CFP
Everybody seems to have a take on whether or not Cincinnati deserves a spot in the College Football playoff. ESPN’s Paul Finebaum certainly is one, saying the Bearcats have been far from impressive.
In fact, what Finebaum finds less impressive is people in the media who are banging on the Cincinnati drum.

“Yeah, I mean, they were a hair away from a two-point conversion to tie the game,” Finebaum said. “And Cincinnati fans are just getting annoying. Excuse me, let me correct myself, it’s not Cincinnati fans. I don’t mind them.
“It’s the acolytes who beat the drum for them,” Finebaum said. “Some of them work at this network by the way (ESPN). It blew up in their face. I really don’t wanna hear about it.
“I don’t think they have a path in,” Finebaum said. “I really don’t care if they do or not. They’ve had opportunities to impress. When you’re Cincinnati — you have to go out there every week and dominate — or at least show up like you care. You have College GameDay on your campus. Be ready for the game. Perform. And instead, they looked like everybody else in college football yesterday.”
