Houston running back Parker Jenkins plans to enter Transfer Portal
Houston Cougars running back Parker Jenkins plans to enter the Transfer Portal, per CBS Sports. His agency, 3 Strand Sports & Entertainment confirmed the decision.
Parker Jenkins was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2023, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He played his high school football at Klein Forest in Houston, Texas. There, he was the 22nd-ranked running back and the 348th-ranked player overall in that cycle.
In 2024, Jenkins played six games for Houston and carried the ball 17 times for 34 yards, or just 2.0 yards per carry. He also had three receptions for seven yards. He, notably, did not have a rushing attempt over the final seven games of the season for Houston. Those numbers were down from his freshman season when he played in 12 games and had 99 carries for 464 yards and three touchdowns. He had 15 receptions for 81 yards and returned kicks as a freshman.
From his freshman to his sophomore season, Houston saw a change in the coaching staff. Houston moved on from Dana Holgorsen and replaced him with Willie Fritz, moving from a coach with an Air Raid background to one who is known for his rushing attack.

Four Houston running backs finished the 2024 season with more rushing yards than Parker Jenkins. That includes freshman running back Re’Shaun Sanford who led the team in rushing yards with 444 on the season. DJ Butler and J’Marion Burnette are also freshman running backs who had promising seasons for the Cougars. That came just one season after Jenkins led the Cougars in rushing his own freshman season.
As a team, Houston struggled on the ground. The Cougars were 89th in the country in rushing offense, averaging 135.42 yards per game. That was good for 11th in the Big 12 this season. As a team, the Cougars went 4-8 in their first season under Fritz as he rebuilds the program.
Coming out of high school, Parker Jenkins had numerous offers from schools in both power conferences and the Group of Five.
Parker Jenkins will have two seasons of eligibility remaining when he gets to his next school.
