Having a dad in Jon Kitna who spent 14 seasons in the NFL, Liberty Township (Ohio) Lakota East 2025 quarterback Jamison Kitna had a valuable resource to lean on. As he took multiple visits over the last two years and attended several camps, Jon would ask his son how he was feeling about his recruitment and where things stood in his eyes.

Following his latest visit to Houston in early June, Jamison had a feeling that he hadn’t felt before. He spent the next few weeks mulling over if those feelings really were real.

In the end they turned out to be legitimate as Jamison announced his pledge to Houston on Tuesday.

“Committing this early was not the plan I had all along,” Jamison told On3. “I always was weary of committing to soon so I always said that after my junior season in that spring I’d commit. I got confirmation in my spirit that this was the right time and Houston was the right move.”

Pledging to the Cougars was a full-circle moment for Jamison. Houston was the first school to offer him as he began his recruitment process. It was also the first school he took a visit to.

Kitna is excited about playing in the Big 12

During that time he had visited multiple times and continually built a strong relationship with their coaching staff. Specifically, head coach Dana Holgorsen and quarterbacks coach Mike Burchett.

Calling Hogorsen even-keeled, he believes that he’s the right coach he wants to play for as Houston makes the jump to a Power Five conference in the Big 12.

“Houston’s a place that Coach Holgorsen has been building for awhile,” said Jamison, the No. 454 player in the 2025 class. “I’ve always been their guy in the 2025 class so going where you’re wanted is a big deal. That’s one piece of advice that I’ve heard from my dad, both my brothers and my sister’s husband who is a left tackle at Michigan. Seeing what we can build in the 2025 class and beyond, that’s special.

…They’re also going to the Big 12 and play some big-time football there. Big 12 quarterbacks do really well in the NFL. The development piece is there and Houston looks like a place that will develop me mentally physically and spiritually.”
