Arizona transfer guard Kylan Boswell commits to Illinois
Arizona transfer point guard Kylan Boswell has committed to Illinois. Boswell joins Brad Underwood’s program after spending two seasons with the Wildcats.
A four-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class, Boswell was a top 50 player coming out of Compass Prep in Champaign, Ill. He chose to play for Arizona over an initial offer from Illinois, as well as offers from Kansas, USC and others.
During his two seasons at Arizona, Boswell played over 30 games each season, and was a starter for the Wildcats this past year. Boswell played in 36 games, starting 35 of them. He averaged 0.6 points per game on 39.6% shooting from the floor, while dishing out 3.6 assists per game and 2.3 rebounds per game.
Boswell entered his name into the transfer portal on April 9. On3’s Jamie Shaw reported shortly after that Illinois was a team to keep an eye on for Boswell the second time around.
Arizona maintaining strong spirits despite disappointing result
Boswell became the fourth Arizona player to enter the transfer portal after the season’s end. The Wildcats also recently lost star big man Oumar Ballo to the transfer portal.

Once again, Arizona had a strong regular season that ended in disappointing fashion. The Wildcats won 25 games and made the Pac-12 Tournament semifinals before falling to Oregon. That still earned Arizona a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament, but that run would not last long. The Wildcats were upset in the Sweet 16 by Clemson, making it the third straight time Tommy Lloyd’s team would not reach the Elite Eight.
“I love these guys,” Lloyd said after the loss. “I love the culture we’re starting to really build at Arizona. I feel like I’m real big on eventually getting some compound return on our investment. I think we’re going to do that. I think we’re doing all the right things.
“Obviously we’re not perfect and no one is, and we don’t ever want to be perfect. We just want to be making progress. So I love where we’re at. I think I wasn’t ready to take a breath but I’m going to take a breath and we’ll re-evaluate, and we’re going to have another really good offseason and continue to build.”
