Florida State transfer DL Tomiwa Durojaiye commits to Illinois
Former Florida State defensive lineman Tomiwa Durojaiye has committed to Illinois, via the NCAA Transfer Portal. Durojaiye only spent one season with the Seminoles, after also spending a year a piece with West Virginia and Kentucky.
Durojaiye saw limited action at FSU this season, recording three total tackles, including a sack. Durojaiye’s most extensive time on the field came at West Virginia, where he played in all 13 games for the Mountaineers.
He finished the 2023 season with career-highs of 23 tackles and 3.5 sacks. He only played in three games during his true freshman season at Kentucky and ultimately redshirted. Thus, Durojaiye should have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Durojaiye’s limited role at FSU came as a surprise to many fans after Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell spoke so highly of Durojaiye last offseason.
“I’m excited to be adding Tomiwa to the ‘Nole Family,” Norvell said in a release. “He is a great playmaker who has just scratched the surface of what we believe his potential is. He’s going to be a wonderful addition to our defensive front as he combines explosive movements with great size, strength and intelligence.
“He will be an impact player who will help uphold the standard of our Seminole defense. Tomiwa is a great young man who has a very high ceiling within our program.”

Tomiwa Durojaiye played high school football at Middletown (DE), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 679 overall recruit and No. 76 defensive line in the 2022 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Durojaiye is the fifth player Illinois has added via the transfer portal this offseason. He is joined by fellow defensive standouts such as Curtis Neal and Leon Lowery. The Fighting Illini are currently ranked No. 25 in the On3’s 2025 Transfer Portal Team Rankings.
The transfer portal officially opened Dec. 7 and will remain open until Dec. 28, though players on teams still playing in the postseason will get an additional five-day window to enter the portal after their seasons end.
