Four-Star PG Jeremiah Fears sets official visit to Illinois
Class of 2025 point guard Jeremiah Fears, a Joliet, Ill. native, will officially visit Brad Underwood and the Fighting Illini on September 16th, he told On3.
Fears has previously visited Illinois, in an unofficial capacity. Iowa, Oregon, Michigan, and Michigan State have also each hosted him for unofficials.
The 6-foot-3, four-star rising junior is also scheduled to officially visit Tennessee on September 23rd.
According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Fears is the No. 35 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle. He’s also the No. 6 point guard guard prospect. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Fears talks previous unofficial visits
In a previous interview with On3, Jeremiah Fears discussed several of the programs that he’s visited unofficially.
Oregon: “I learned they’re very fast-paced. They run a lot of good sets and quick reads. Their coaching staff and program are very good, and they like their guards to be able to score the ball too.”
Iowa: “They play fast, and they shoot a lot of shots and threes. But they are also willing to guard and play together. I watched them a few times recently. I fit their style with being a playmaker and a scorer. They let their guards play with some freedom and also lead the team.”

Michigan: “My relationship with Juwan Howard is close. When I went on my visit there, it was great. He treated me like one of his own, you know he’s from my home town. He treats his players with respect. It was good being around the program and the team; talking with Jett Howard, he was able to give me some advice about being a young athlete.”
Michigan State: “My relationship there is really good; they’re like family. Since my brother committed there, they’ve treated me like one of their own. We have a good relationship.”
*Jeremiah’s older brother, Jeremy Fears, is a freshman guard at Michigan State.
Illinois: “I know a lot about their recent history, and they have a had a couple of guards who made it to the pros. They have an overall good coaching staff and a good team.”
In addition to the schools mentioned above, Fears has also received offers from Texas Tech, Ole Miss, Florida State, Providence, Arizona, Gonzaga, and others.
Scouting Report
“Jeremiah Fears is a compact and confident guard. He plays with a lot of burst, on both ends of the floor. Fears has a confident handle and uses his burst to get to his spots. He plays balanced with an ability to rise up and knock down shots at each level. He is more of a score first guard than a point guard. Fears is a good on ball defender at the point of attack. Some could question the size. There is an undeniable competitive fire in there. Fears is the younger brother of Michigan State guard Jeremy Fears.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
