West Virginia transfer WR Hudson Clement signs with Illinois
WR Hudson Clement has signed with Illinois out of the NCAA Transfer Portal. On3’s Pete Nakos reported the news on Thursday.
Clement had appeared in 23 games over the past pair of seasons as a redshirt freshman for West Virginia. While with the Mountaineers, Clement caught 73 passes for 1,221 yards and nine touchdowns. He was their second-leading receiver as a true freshman and then was their leading receiver this past year with 51 receptions for 741 yards and five scores.
Clement, a native of Martinsburg, two and a half hours east of Morgantown, is now departing his home state school after entering his name into the portal on December 20th. He did so as the No. 48 WR and the No. 252 overall transfer per On3’s 2025 Top Transfer Portal Players.
Clement was one of 22 players who have transferred during this cycle from WVU. Nine of those, now including him, have since committed elsewhere.

Now, Clement is the seventh pickup in the portal over the last two weeks for the Fighting Illini. They’ve also brought QB Ethan Hampton (Northern Illinois), LB Leon Lowery (Wisconsin), and three defensive linemen in Curtis Neal (Wisconsin), Tomiwa Durojaiye (Florida State), and James Thompson Jr. (Wisconsin). He’s also their second addition at wide receiver along with Justin Bowick (Ball State).
