As things stand, new Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti is off to a better start in the 2025 recruiting cycle than how the Hoosiers finished for the 2024 class.

Indiana finished No. 63 in the 2024 On3 Team Recruiting Rankings with one blue-chip recruit. To kick off the 2025 cycle, the Hoosiers rank No. 45 nationally behind a trio of commitments: Carmel (Ind.) three-star interior offensive lineman Evan Parker, Orland Park (Ill.) Carl Sandburg offensive tackle Matt Marek and Elmhurst (Ill.) Nazareth Academy safety Garrett Reese.

Now, the Hoosiers are looking to add a talented defensive back to the mix. Sarasota (Fla.) Cardinal Mooney three-star cornerback Chris McCorkle has set an official visit to Bloomington for May 31-June 2.

McCorkle is the nation’s No. 385 overall prospect and No. 41 cornerback in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 54 prospect in Florida.

Florida OV waiting in the wings

Indiana isn’t the only school set to receive an official visit from McCorkle — the in-state Gators are on deck as well. He will visit Gainesville from June 7-9.

“What makes them my top school right now is because when they first offered me, it was genuine from the start,” McCorkle told On3’s Chad Simmons. “The offer was from Corey Raymond, but with the new DB coach – Will Harris – as everybody knows, he’s about his business. When we met, it was genuine there too. One of my former teammates plays there, so I get informed about the stuff that goes on there. Everything sounds good and fits my criteria.”

Thus far, Harris has made a great impression on McCorkle.

“Coach Harris is experienced,” McCorkle said. “He coached defensive backs in the NFL, so he knows what he’s doing… You’re learning from the best.”
