Indiana earned a big win on Wednesday night with an 81-65 victory over Nebraska. Hoosier star Trayce Jackson-Davis was incredible in the win over the Cornhuskers and, from what Fred Hoiberg saw, there wasn’t much his team could do to contain him.

Hoiberg spoke highly of Jackson-Davis during his postgame press conference. He believe he is better than Jackson-Davis Sr. and that the Indiana forward was the key to how they were able to defeat Nebraska in their Big Ten home opener.

“Obviously he’s a great player. One of the best in the country. He’s a lot better than his dad was, who I played with for four years,” said Hoiberg. “He’s a heck of a player and he was just all over the place. His blocks early I thought affected the game in a big way as well. I thought they were the more physical team all night long. And I thought a lot of that started with Trayce.”

Jackson-Davis posted a triple-double against the Cornhuskers with 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. He paired that with three steals, three blocks, and 66.7% shooting from the field. Jackson-Davis truly was everywhere on the floor, especially as a facilitator which Hoiberg says was vital to Indiana’s success on the offensive end.

“I thought he did a really nice job of passing the ball over our double teams,” Hoiberg said. “Give them a lot of credit. They made a lot of shots tonight and a lot of that started with the rotations on the backside.”

Everyone knows how talented Jackson-Davis is. The 6-9 senior will be one of the nation’s most productive players during the season and most honored by the time it’s over. His career performance from last night is just the start, though, as Jackson-Davis and Indiana will now prepare for a high-profile two-game stretch of Arizona and Kansas.
