According to Matt Zenitz of On3, the Indiana Hoosiers are hiring Adam Henry to be their wide receivers coach. Bruce Feldman of The Athletic was the first to report the move.

Henry has spent the last two seasons working with the Dallas Cowboys under head coach Mike McCarthy. He was a part of one of the top offenses in the league last year, with CeeDee Lamb finishing the season over 1,000 yards and Amari Cooper just behind him at 865 yards. It’s been a while since Henry was a college coach, spending the last seven years with four different NFL teams.

LSU was the last collegiate stop for Henry, where his position room included Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry. Working for head coach Les Miles, Henry was in Baton Rouge for three seasons as the wide receivers coach from 2012 to 2014.

Alongside the Cowboys, Henry has worth with the San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns, and New York Giants — all as the wide receivers coach. He worked with the Oakland Raiders for five seasons beginning in 2007 and starting as an offensive quality control coach. Henry was eventually promoted to tight ends coach in 2009 and worked with the organization until 2011.

Indiana will be entering the 2022 season after struggling at the wide receiver position last year. Tight end Peyton Hendershot was their leading receiver and even then, he will not be returning. Standout Ty Fryfogle is gone from the program as well after having 46 receptions for 512 yards and one touchdown. D.J. Matthews Jr. will be the leading returning receiver, having 13 catches for 165 yards.

Henry is replacing Grant Heard, who recently left the program. He took the wide receivers coaching role on Gus Malzhan’s staff at UCF.

Former Indiana Hoosiers tight end resigned by Panthers

NFL free agency is set to open on March 16. Ahead of the start of free agency, the Carolina Panthers have signed former Indiana tight end Ian Thomas, who was set to hit the open market, to a new three-year deal, the team announced on Friday morning.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the three-year deal is worth $16.5 million. Thomas will earn $6.435 million in the first year of the deal, and the contract includes $8 million fully guaranteed, per Rapoport.

The Panthers drafted Thomas 101st overall in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Indiana. With the Hoosiers, Thomas played during two seasons, bringing in 28 receptions for 404 yards and five touchdowns.
