Indiana just landed another commitment, this time pilfering junior wing Luke Goode from fellow Big Ten club Illinois.

Goode largely came off the bench in 2023 to provide 5.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game while playing just north of 20 minutes a night. He also shot the ball well from 2 and 3, as he did in 2022 as well. Just a real solid and dependable role player for Brad Underwood. A dying breed, you might say.

Luke Goode had also averaged right at four points per game as a sophomore in ’22, a year that was mostly derailed by a foot injury with Goode playing just 10 games. He averaged just two points as a freshman in 2020-21.

Meanwhile, Champaign has been bustling with transfer portal activity — folks coming and going every single week since the season ended against UConn. But Bloomington hasn’t exactly been an empty train station either.

Let’s take a look at how Indiana is doing on the roster movement front with a little rundown of the transfer portal. It’ll make Charles Minor happy:

Indiana Transfer Rundown

Payton Sparks — From two-time All-MAC to two points per game off the bench at IU this past season. He was promptly back in the portal after that experiment.

Kaleb Banks — Former top-100 recruit who just didn’t provide meaningful production through two years with IU.

CJ Gunn — Gunn was somewhat promising in his second season and a definite part of the rotation, but an NIL influx at DePaul plus a chance at a more primary role likely drew him up to Chicago.

Myles Rice — Suddenly thrust into starting point guard role as a redshirt freshman at Washington State and had to serve as basically the only true guard on the tallest team in the country. He thrived, winning Pac-12 Rookie of the Year with 14.8 points and 3.8 assists per game in 2024.

Oumar Ballo — Literally, as big a get as possible in the transfer portal. Rising sixth year senior, two time All-Pac-12 honoree and powerhouse post presence Oumar Ballo could be one of the very best players in the Big Ten next season after averaging a double double for Arizona in 2024.

Kanaan Carlyle — Inefficient freshman guard at Stanford, though he is a former top-50 recruit and showcased plenty of flashes of high-upside talent. A worthy take for the Hoosiers.

That’s a juicy haul for Mike Woodson — and now the gauntlet has been thrown down. Got to go win with a roster like this, or another missed NCAA Tournament likely leads to Woody’s ouster.
