It was a miserable day for the Indiana Hoosiers yesterday. While Iowa laid a beatdown on the Hoosiers, the losses started to pile up before the game even started.

Running back David Holloman was featured in a pregame tweet, where the signs it would be a long day for Indiana are prominent. Evidently, there’s no spell-check in the equipment room.

Indiana was misspelled on Holloman’s jersey.

In big bold letters, Holloman’s jersey read Indinia. For the entire football world to see. The Hoosiers were trying to make a statement yesterday, but the hits just kept on coming.

It’s a spelling error that should make Harrison Ford angry. Imagine if the poster for his titular character’s adventure franchise read Indinia Jones?

Nobody would see the movie, and nobody should have had to suffer through the drubbing the Hoosiers went through yesterday.

If you can’t spell your own states name correct, it’s paramount you represent them on the field better. Alas, the Hoosiers didn’t do that either.

Indiana Hoosiers: A disappointing start to 2021

Not long after the spelling error came to light, Indiana surrendered two touchdowns to the Iowa Hawkeyes. Within the first three minutes of their season, the Hoosiers were down by a score of 14-0.

Moreover, it didn’t get better for Indiana as the game went on. By halftime, the game was as good as over – Iowa took a 31-3 lead into halftime.

Luckily, the Hawkeyes didn’t pile on from there, coasting to a 34-6 victory to begin their season.

As for the Hoosiers, maybe Tom Allen will chalk up the loss to bad karma from the team’s spelling blunder. However, his team will have to take a long, hard look at themselves prior to getting their season back on track.

Indiana or Indinia – no matter how you spell it, the Hoosiers’ performance to start their season leaves a lot to question.
