Sam Houston State guard Lamar Wilkerson commits to Indiana out of transfer portal

Indiana has landed one of the most prolific transfers in the NCAA transfer portal. Sam Houston State‘s Lamar Wilkerson has decided to join the Hoosiers, according to On3’s Joe Tipton.
Wilkerson is coming off a season in which he averaged 20.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. He absolutely lit it up in his third season with the Bearkats.
A 6-foot-5, 205-pound guard, Lamar Wilkerson has excellent size and is a very well-rounded player. That is evident in his stats.
In addition to his scoring totals, Wilkerson also averaged 2.1 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.3 blocks per game. He could fill up the stat sheet on any given night.
He did so in a win at Western Kentucky in mid-February, when he nearly turned in a triple-double. In that game, Lamar Wilkerson scored 14 points, grabbed 10 boards and logged seven assists. It was his only double-double of the season, though he’s certainly capable of producing more.
But Wilkerson is definitely a scorer. He finished the season with five straight performances in which he topped 20 points.
In total, Lamar Wilkerson scored more than 20 points 17 times during the 2024-25 campaign. He’ll be able to provide some instant scoring punch to the Indiana lineup.
