3-star in-state tight end Sam West commits to Indiana
Greensburg (Ind.) Community School tight end Sam West has committed to Indiana, he announced Saturday on Twitter.
West is the No. 615 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 31 tight end and the No. 8 junior prospect in Hoosier State.
“I wouldn’t be in this position if it weren’t for the blessings God has granted me with including my ability, family, coaches, teammates and all who have made a positive influence on me,” West wrote. “Big thank you to all schools who reached out during the process and gave me an opportunity. Thank you to Coach Wright and Coach Allen for the opportunity to play at Indiana. I’m excited to announce I’ll be furthering my education and football career at Indiana University! #LEO”
In addition to the Hoosiers, West held offers from Tennessee, Rutgers, Purdue, Maryland and more.
As a junior last season at Greensburg, West was a jack-of-all-trades player on offense. He threw for more than 1,000 yards and 11 touchdowns while completing 54 percent of his passes. On the ground, he totaled 443 more yards and seven scores.
