5-star Xavier Nwankpa wraps up in-home visits with trio of Iowa coaches

The final in-home visit is in the books for five-star safety Xavier Nwankpa of Altoona (Iowa) Southeast Polk.
Nwankpa, who is set to announce his decision at 5 p.m. ET Wednesday, received an in-home visit from Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz on Monday night.
Nwankpa shared a snapshot from the visit. In the picture and he was flanked by Ferentz, defensive coordinator Phil Parker and defensive recruiting coordinator Jay Nieman.
It’s been a three-team race for quite some time Nwankpa, but most insiders believe it’s truly a two-team battle between Iowa and Ohio State.
Ohio State head coach Ryan Day and secondary coach Matt Barnes visited Nwankpa last Wednesday night.

Iowa is the home state school, and Xavier Nwankpa came away very impressed with the Hawkeyes’ win over Penn State and the atmosphere in Iowa City. He’s been a priority recruit for the Hawkeyes for more than two years now, and it could be telling that Ferentz got the final in-home visit.
On3 Senior Recruiting Editor Jeremy Crabtree logged a prediction for Xavier Nwankpa on Tuesday.
Xavier Nwankpa is a five-star prospect in the 2022 On3 Consensus Rankings, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks third among all safeties nationally and is the No. 1 overall prospect in the state of Iowa.
Xavier Nwankpa Scouting Summary
On3 Director of Scouting Charles Power wrote the following on Xavier Nwankpa as a prospect:
“The best defensive back prospect from the state of Iowa in the internet recruiting era. An imposing, physical presence over the middle of the field, standing over 6-foot-2 and wielding significant striking power. A strong form tackler in space. Plays with instincts as a cover two safety and has the ball skills to come down with contested catches both at safety and receiver. Registers as a good athlete at the position.”
