Bo Bassett recruiting update: Top wrestling prospect recaps visit with Iowa
Bo Bassett is still at 15 schools amid his recruiting, but the No. 1 wrestling prospect in 2026 just took a visit to Iowa, which could be one of the top schools in the running.
Bassett was with teammates Jax Forrest and Owen McMullen (who committed to the Hawkeyes right after the trip) as well as top 2027 prospect Melvin Miller. They checked out the facilities, met the coaches on campus and attended an Iowa football game.
Safe to say, Bassett took it all in as the most sought after prospect in wrestling.
“Great weekend at Wrestle Town, USA. I really enjoyed Iowa and their love for wrestling,” Bassett wrote on Twitter.
Earlier this month, Bassett narrowed down his list to 15 schools and also had a list of upcoming visits.
“Recruiting Update: I am down to 15 and have some ties to each of those programs,” Bassett’s statement from his FaceBook page read. “I know this will be hard at the end to pick just one with so many great wrestling programs, staffs, partners, RTCs and fan bases.

“I want to go and check most of them out. I am not in a rush to commit. With Worlds, WNO and Super 32, the process got push back. Now taking some time to do some official visits. I got Iowa, PSU, Ohio St, VT and Oklahoma State over the next few weekends. Then I will ramp it up preparing for Ironman and the season. I plan to get some more visits lined up in the spring. Lots to line up yet.”
Bassett’s remaining schools are: Virginia Tech, Cornell, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, Iowa State, Pitt-Johnstown, Princeton, Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Northern Iowa, Missouri.
