Bob Stoops on his Cameo gaffe involving Iowa OC Brian Ferentz: 'Some sad people out there'
Bob Stoops fell for a prank on Monday, accidentally trolling the Iowa offensive staff. More specifically, offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz, who is having a rough season. Somebody submitted a Cameo request from Stoops, where he told Brian to “break free from the family business.”
Stoops has since commented on his Cameo, saying he had no idea what its actual meaning was. Playing his college football and Iowa, he supports Ferentz and the entire program, calling himself a “Hawkeye through and through.”

“Of course not, absolutely not, no idea whatsoever! … Some sad people out there! I support Kirk, Brian and every coach there,” Stoops said via Scott Dochterman of The Athletic. “I’m a Hawkeye through and through!”
Basketball head coach Fran McCaffery fell for the prank as well, having a similar Cameo experience as Stoops. So to be fair to the former football head coach, it was not just him getting baited.
Now, people involved with college programs will most likely have to be more aware of the requests they are receiving through the app. The struggles might be real for Iowa on the offensive end and even still, some of their fan base is still finding humor in it all.

Bob Stoops falls for prank on Cameo
Two games into the season and to say the Iowa offense would be struggling is an understatement. Only scoring one touchdown on the year has many Hawkeye fans worried about the future under offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz. Between him and quarterback Spencer Petras, it’s been rough going in Iowa City.
Even so, some of the Iowa faithful have found a way to have fun with the situation. Even former Hawkeyes player and Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops was brought into the equation. He accidentally trolled Iowa and Ferentz during a Cameo, telling Ferentz to get out of the “family business.”
“Hello there Brian,” Stoops began. “This is Bob Stoops here saying hi. Listen, I know you have had a couple of tough two, three years there but the good news is, your family still supports you, buddy. Especially your Dad. He wants you to know that. Even though everyone else seems to be against you, sometimes, the best time is to break free from the family business. Go do what you need to do. All the best to you. A big Boomer Sooner and good luck.”
