Two games into the season and to say the Iowa offense would be struggling is an understatement. Only scoring one touchdown on the year has many Hawkeye fans worried about the future under offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz. Between him and quarterback Spencer Petras, it’s been rough going in Iowa City.

Even so, some of the Iowa faithful have found a way to have fun with the situation. Even former Hawkeyes player and Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops was brought into the equation. He accidentally trolled Iowa and Ferentz during a Cameo, telling Ferentz to get out of the “family business.”

“Hello there Brian,” Stoops began. “This is Bob Stoops here saying hi. Listen, I know you have had a couple of tough two, three years there but the good news is, your family still supports you, buddy. Especially your Dad. He wants you to know that. Even though everyone else seems to be against you, sometimes, the best time is to break free from the family business. Go do what you need to do. All the best to you. A big Boomer Sooner and good luck.”

Stoops has always been connected to the Iowa program, playing his college football there. He also got his coach career underway, starting as a graduate assistant. Of course, he had most of his success came while in Norman, winning a national championship and 10 Big 12 championships.

As for the situation with Iowa, Petras struggled against both South Dakota and Iowa State. In total, the quarterback has 201 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions. Some improvement will be needed as the season progresses but at the very least, fans are able to see the joke.
