Iowa’s Brody Teske, the No. 14 seed at 133 pounds, upset No. 3 Nic Bouzakis of Ohio State 15-13 in a wild first round matchup at the Big Ten Wrestling Championships.

Teske, who wasn’t the regular starter all year for Iowa, came on late in the season and was reportedly a late entry to the tournament. Due to this, he was the last seed.

Well, that didn’t matter against the favored Bouzakis. In the third period, Teske got a late takedown to cut the score 13-11 but ended up locking up a cradle for near fall points.

With the win, Teske will advance to the quarterfinals later in Session 1 and take on No. 11 Dustin Norris of Purdue. Teske qualified for NCAAs for the Hawkeyes last season.

He was also a two-time NCAA qualifier for Northern Iowa prior to his transfer and made it the Round of 16 as well as the Blood Round during his time at UNI.

Teske came into the tournament with a 9-3 record.
