Caitlin Clark shares emotions of setting NCAA Division I all-time scoring mark on Senior Day
It was a remarkable day for Caitlin Clark and the Iowa women’s basketball program. On Senior Day, Clark became the NCAA Division I all-time scoring leader, passing Pete Maravich on the way to beating Ohio State, one of the best teams in the country.
While speaking to Fox Sports after the game, Clark opened up on her emotions throughout the game, praising her teammates in the process.
“I thought we just came out and dominated,” Caitlin Clark said. “I thought we played with a lot of energy, even when Molly [Davis] goes down. I thought Sydney [Affolter] stepped up, I thought Kylie Feuerbach gave us really good minutes. I’m just proud of our girls.”
“Obviously, five seniors that have been together for a long time, and you always want to send them out on the right note on their home court. So, it was a fun, dominant win for us. I thought we played really well.”
Those five seniors that Caitlin Clark brought up includes Molly Davis, who suffered an apparent leg injury during the first half of the game and was later seen in a wheelchair. After her, there were players like Kate Martin and Gabbie Marshall, who had excellent games in the win over Ohio State.
In many ways, the emotions hadn’t hit Caitlin Clark yet, and she knew that. However, in the moment, she was more thankful than anything else.

“I think just soaking it all in. Luckily, we’re probably gonna have two more games here, which makes it a little less bitter, but I’m just very thankful for all these people that are going to stay around and support us and have supported us over the course of my four years and it probably won’t hit me until a little bit later, but just going to enjoy it with my family, my teammates, and just really thankful to be in this place.”
Lisa Bluder praises how Iowa players handled hype surrounding Caitlin Clark’s record chase
It can become easy to get distracted amid a record chase. However, Iowa handled it well, leading to praise from head coach Lisa Bluder.
“I mean, it’s been great. All the distractions that we’ve had today, amazing crowd again, I feel like they’re locked in and ready to go,” Bluder said.
“Yeah, we’re going to keep mission focus. We’re not going to let anything get in our way. We had a similar situation at their place and they came back, so we’re going to stay mission focused on this one.”
